Nearly 50 Maine organizations including schools, libraries, museums, and universities have received artworks by Maine artist Bernard “Blackie” Langlais as the result of a bequest left by Langlais’s widow, Helen Friend Langlais, to the Colby College Museum of Art in 2010. Colby teamed up with the Wisconsin-based Kohler Foundation to distribute art to nonprofits.

The Langlais Art Trail, a digital trail of Langlais’s work, will launch July 19 to coincide with the Colby Museum of Art’s Bernard Langlais exhibition featuring 187 of the artist’s works.
