John Winkin, who was both baseball coach and athletics director at Colby from 1955 to 1974, passed away Saturday, July 19, at age 94. He had a 301-202-5 record at Colby and was National Baseball Coach of the Year in 1965. He went on to coach at the University of Maine from 1975 to 1996, taking the Black Bears to six College World Series. He ended his career with more than 1,000 wins.
