Professor of Science, Technology, and Society James Fleming was featured on an MSNBC program to provide insight on geoengineering as a possible force to combat climate change. Fleming debated theĀ Desert Research Institute‘s director of weather modification, Jeff Tilley, who proposes cloud seeding to increase precipitation for winter snowpack purposes in order to store water. According to Fleming, “most anything can go wrong” when it comes to climate manipulation, including potential damage to the ozone layer or hydrologic systems.

Fleming is a member of the National Academy of Sciences’ geoengineering committee, which is conducting research on climate intervention.
