On Nov. 13 Assistant Professor of History Daniel Tortora will give a presentation based on his book Fort Halifax: Winslow’s Historic Outpost as part of the Waterville Public Library Author Series. His talk will cover topics such as the colorful local residents and visitors who worked to preserve the blockhouse; recent history of the fort; amateur archaeologist Timothy Otis Paine; the women of the Fort Halifax Chapter, DAR; the creation of Fort Halifax Park; and the April Fools’ Day Flood of 1987. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the presentation.
