Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Philip Nyhus and three Colby graduates are named authors on an article, “An Assessment of South China Tiger Reintroduction Potential in Hupingshan and Houhe National Nature Reserves, China,” in the February 2015 issue of the journal Biological Conservation.
Yiyuan Jasmin Qin ’12 is the lead author, and she is listed with Nyhus, Courtney L. Larson ’08, Charles J.W. Carroll ’08, and four other coauthors. Larson and Carroll laid the groundwork for the research on tiger habitat with their GIS work and modeling completed as Nyhus’s summer research assistants. Qin did prey analysis as an honors thesis, and that work is the heart of this paper, Nyhus said. Full text of the article is online here.
Other Colby alumni are mentioned in the acknowledgments. Qin is currently in graduate school at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
