Assistant Professor of Anthropology Winifred Tate’s book Drugs, Thugs, and Diplomats: U.S. Policymaking in Colombia will be published in June by Stanford University Press.

Drugs, Thugs, and Diplomats examines the U.S. policymaking process through the design, implementation, and consequences of the United States’ “Plan Colombia” aid package in 2000.The book is part of the series Anthropology of Policy, which, according to the Stanford University Press website, explores policy through “anthropological methodologies to better understand how policies work as instruments of political intervention and social change.”
