However, he finds the pursuit exciting, especially given scallops’ power to dart away quickly. “I liken scalloping more to hunting,” Preney said.
Preney, a diver out of Boothbay and a member of the Urchin Advisory Council, has been fishing with scuba gear since 1980. He learned to dive in Colby’s pool and later married into a family of fishermen.
