Friends and family remember former Colby football coach and athletic director Dick McGee as a mentor, leader, and philanthropist. He is most fondly remembered in the Fairfield, Maine, area for his leadership in the Fairfield Police Athletic League, a youth sports program for the towns of Fairfield, Benton, Clinton, and Albion. McGee passed away Feb. 26 at age 84 due to complications of pneumonia and dementia.
“We think of a philanthropist as someone who donates money, but anybody with money could write a check. Dick gave of himself and his time,” former Colby football coach Ed Mestieri said.
