Dana Professor of Sociology Neil Gross was quoted in a March 30 Inside Higher Ed article about a new book, Passing on the Right, a study of the challenges of being a conservative professor in the humanities and social sciences. Higher Ed reports “Gross said he disagreed with the book’s premise that social science would ‘be automatically improved if we added more conservative voices to the mix. … I just haven’t seen any evidence that conservatives make for better theorists or methodologists.'” Gross has written about politics in academe and is mentioned in Passing on the Right’s discussion of affirmative action, the article noted.
