Applied Music Associate Messan Jordan Benissan will be the commencement speaker at the Watershed School in Camden, Maine, June 11. Benissan, a master African drummer and teacher, was selected by the private secondary school as the overwhelming favorite of the senior class, according to head of school Will Galloway. Benissan previously worked with the Watershed student community as part of his teaching practice. “We are honored that Jordan will be a part of our ceremony and address our school community. He is a high-energy and inspirational educator,” Galloway said. Benissan’s most recent CD, Let Me Play My Music, was nominated for Best World Music Album by Phoenix magazine and was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered.
