Mike Wiley ’03 and his business partner Andrew Taylor have come up big with a James Beard Award in the Best Chef: Northeast category. Co-owners and chefs of three restaurants in Portland, Maine—Eventide Oyster Co., The Honey Paw, and Hugo’s—won this year following three nominations and making it to the finals twice. “The Portland chefs went up against some stiff competition that included chefs from restaurants in Boston; Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Providence, Rhode Island,” the Portland Press Herald said May 1. “Thank you to our amazing crew back in Portland, Maine. This belongs to you guys,” Wiley said during his acceptance speech in Chicago.
