Three Colby students—Marques Houston ’18, Adrienne Carmack ’18, and Angie Peterson ’18—organized the March for Racial Justice that marched from campus to downtown Waterville Oct. 1. The Maine march was a sister march to the national March for Racial Justice held in Washington, D.C., on Saturday to protest police brutality and to support racial equality efforts. “We’re here today for all of the black and brown people in Maine and across the country who face police brutality,” Carmack said. “(…) We hope the fight for racial justice doesn’t end today. It certainly didn’t start today” the Morning Sentinel reported Oct. 2.
