The group at the Sacro Monte in Varallo

In October Professor of Art Véronique Plesch lead a tour for Colby alumni in northern Italy and southern France. Undiscovered Italy took the participants to a slew of stunning sites, most of which are seldom visited by tourists, and many of which Plesch has written about. Alumni viewed Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque art, visited churches and monasteries, saw Lake Orta — at the foothills of the Alps — and remote mountain villages steeped in age-old traditions, and toured a seaside town on the Italian Riviera as well as a national park with prehistoric petroglyphs.
