Bruce Rueger, assistant professor of geology, was unanimously elected to the position of district chairman of Kennebec Valley Boy Scouts, Turner Publishing reports. Involved with scouting for more than 50 years, Rueger, an Eagle Scout, “has been recognized with the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow, and bestowed the District Award of Merit and Silver Beaver—the highest award a local Boy Scout Council can bestow on a volunteer,” according to the Jan. 8 article. Rueger will represent the Kennebec Valley District on the Pine Tree Council Boy Scouts Council Executive Board for the next year.
