Ann Arbor Film Festival at Colby, April 10 & 11

The 39th annual Ann Arbor Film Festival Tour will be at Colby College in Waterville on Tuesday, April 10, and Wednesday, April 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. nightly in room 100 of Lovejoy Building. Twenty-two new works by independent filmmakers will be shown over the two nights. The two different screenings include a selection of awarded and highlighted films from this year’s 2001 Ann Arbor Film Festival, which took place March 13-18. The touring program currently is traveling around the country to more than 30 locations.

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is a non-profit arts organization that features the latest in 16mm independent and experimental film. The festival features films from across the country and around the world in every genre, including animation, documentary, cinema verite, narrative, experimental and personal documentary. A total of 425 films were submitted to the selection committee and 125 films were screened during the six-day festival held in Ann Arbor.

Founded in 1963 by filmmaker/artist George Manupelli at the University of Michigan School of Art, the Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest festival of its kind in the country. Now independent of the university and under the direction of Vicki Honeyman, the festival continues to cater to independent filmmakers who demonstrate a high regard for film as an art form.
