Students Show Art at Colby Museum Of Art

More than 50 Colby students will exhibit their work at the Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville April 20 through May 6 in the college's annual student art exhibition. An opening reception will be held Friday, April 20, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

For the show, the students will exhibit works of varying media including charcoal life drawings, prints and paintings, photographs, collages, welded steel and plaster sculptures, and mixed media. The sculpture work ranges in scale from small objects to pieces that are several feet high or wide. The student art exhibition was juried by Bevin Engman, Mark Iwinski, Dee Peppe and Scott Reed, all members of Colby’s studio art faculty.

Also on view at the museum starting April 22 is "Maine Contemporary Furniture," with pieces by 18 Maine artists. "Maine Contemporary Furniture," explores international trends and the diversity of influences in contemporary design—Shaker, Bauhaus and Asian.

Colby museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. For information call 207-872-3228 or visit www.colby.edu/museum.
