Colby Museum Sponsors Trip to MFA’s "American Folk"

The Friends of Art at the Colby College Museum of Art are sponsoring a Tuesday, May 22, trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of the "American Folk" exhibition. A bus will leave Colby’s Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m. and will return at 10 p.m. The cost of the trip is $48 per person.

"American Folk," the first major exhibition of folk art at the Museum of Fine Arts, includes extraordinary objects by ordinary people. It showcases the museum’s pioneering collection and is enriched by important works loaned by area collectors. The exhibition features monumental family portraits and tiny watercolors, painted furniture, quilts, weather vanes, a carousel greyhound—and even a toy Noah’s ark. The show provides a delightful and informative look at everyday life in 19th-century America. Trip participants will be provided an audio tour of "American Folk" and free time in Copley Place for shopping and dinner.

For further information on the Friends of Art trip or to make a reservation, contact the Colby Museum of Art at 207-872-3228. Payment should be made by May 21.
