CMP's Sara Burns to Give Energy Talk at Colby

Sara Burns, president of Central Maine Power Company, will be at Colby College in Waterville to present the lecture "Just What IS Going On in the Energy Industry Today?" The event will be held Tuesday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. in room 1 of the Olin Science Center. It is open to the public and free of charge.

Burns has served at Central Maine Power as the director of risk management, manager of financial services, manager of human resources and chief operating officer. She was elected as president of the company in September of 1998 and is now responsible for 1,400 employees and more than 20,000 miles of power lines delivering energy for the people of Maine. Currently she also serves on the boards of Maine General Hospital and the economic development coalition Maine & Co.

A 1979 graduate of Colby College with a degree in political science, Burns has previously worked at Marsh & McLennan and the Chubb Group. After being employed as a risk-management analyst with UNUM Corp., she joined the staff of Central Maine Power in 1987.
