Studio Art Faculty Exhibits Work at Colby Museum
Faculty members Bevin Engman, Harriett Matthews, Gary Mitchell, Dee Peppe, Scott Reed and Abbott Meader will be the exhibiting artists. Photographer Peppe will exhibit her images from Europe, Central America and the United States. Her images are derived from street scenes that focus primarily on urban dwellers and their environment. Engman present recent paintings. Mitchell will present three oil, alkyd paint and wax combination paintings. They are combinations of on canvas and board Matthews will exhibit three welded steel sculptures that reflect her interest in Byzantine architecture combined with Greek landscape, and Reed will show prints. Meader is an emeritus studio art professor at Colby. His graphic works reflect a contemplation of landscape and the natural world as well as the ambiance of 20th-century art and values. Colby museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
