Colby Wellness Lectures Open to Public

At Colby College in Waterville, a series of wellness lectures this fall will address topics of mental, emotional, social and physical well-being. Lectures are open to the public and are free of charge. Programs will discuss sexual assault, discrimination, alcohol consumption and success. All of the programs will be held in the Page Commons Room in Cotter Union. For information contact Colby’s health center at (207) 872-3058.

Lectures scheduled for the fall semester include:

Wed., Sept. 6, at 8 p.m.
"Success by Choice" with Marlon Smith
Program to empower individuals to maximize their potential.

Tue., Sept. 12, at 8 p.m.
"American Dream, Respect for All" with Kevin Jennings
Program by the founder of GLSEN, an educational network to provide resources and education to teachers working together to end anti-gay bias in schools.

Wed., Sept. 20, at 8 p.m.
"Play Rights" presented by Equalogys
An interactive educational live theater program about acquaintance rape violence.

Wed., Sept. 27, at 8 p.m.
"Journey to a Hate-Free Millennium" with Brent Scarpo
A film and lecture program exploring hatred in modern America, presented by the founder of New Light Media, a production company dedicated to bringing about discussion and change.

Wed., Oct. 18, at 8 p.m.
"Courage to Care" with Carolyn Cornelison
A realistic look at alcohol use in college and our culture’s co-dependent attitudes and consumption patterns.
