A Celebration of Children in Music and Literature at Colby

On Sunday, February 17, Colby College in Waterville will present "A Celebration of Children in Music and Literature." Performed by mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Erskine Patches and pianist Cheryl Tschanz, the concert will consist of music about children. The event, part of the Music at Colby 2001-2002 Concert Series, will be held in Given Auditorium of Colby's Bixler Art and Music Center at 3 p.m. It is open to the public and free of charge.

The concert programs will feature works by Modest Moussorgsky, Benjamin Britten and Claude Debussy. Elizabeth Erskine Patches is an applied music associate at Colby. She has given recitals in Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall and the 92nd Street “Y” in New York. She has made solo appearances with symphony orchestras, oratorio societies and chamber music groups throughout the world.

Cheryl Tschanz is an adjunct assistant professor of music at Colby and has appeared as a guest soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and in recital at Carnegie Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall and the Tanglewood Festival. Tschanz has performed throughout the world.
