Pulitzer Prize-Winning Political Journalist at Colby

On Thursday, September 21, at 4:30 p.m. David Shribman, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and Washington bureau chief, columnist and assistant managing editor for The Boston Globe, will speak at Colby College in Waterville. Shribman’s lecture, titled "Forecast Election 2000," will be held in the Page Commons Room of Cotter Union and is open to the public free of charge.

Shribman was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in journalism in 1995 for his coverage of Washington and the American political scene. His column "National Perspective" is syndicated to more than 50 papers nationally by Universal Press Syndicate. Shribman also writes "O Democracy," a regular column for Fortune magazine. He joined The Boston Globe after serving as a national political correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He also was a member of the national staff of The Washington Star. He began his career at The Buffalo Evening News, where he worked on the city staff before being assigned to the paper’s Washington bureau. Shribman has appeared on "Face the Nation" and "Washington Week in Review."

A native of Salem, Mass., Shribman is a graduate of Dartmouth College. He was a James Reynolds Scholar at Cambridge University, England, where he completed his graduate studies. In 1995 Shribman was a Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow at Grinnell College.
