Colby Reunion Weekend Begins Friday Colby graduates from the 1920s to the 1990s will participate in the college's 2002 Reunion Weekend from Friday, June 7, through Sunday, June 9. Events on campus include class dinners and educational panels with alumni and faculty. Golf outings, picnics and a fly fishing trip on the Kennebec River are among the weekend's off-campus activities. Friday night the Alumni Association will present awards. Earl H. Smith, retiring executive assistant to the president, will receive the Ernest C. Marriner Distinguished Service Award. Allan Van Gestel '57 (Rockport, Mass.) will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award. James E. Fell '32 (Fall River, Mass.), Leland '67 and Linda Mitchell Potter '66 (Hingham, Mass.), Douglas Schair '67 (Falmouth, Maine), William Alfond '72 (Boston, Mass.) and Stephen G. '77 and Valerie Jones Roy '76 (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) will receive Colby Brick Awards. John B. Devine Jr. '78 (Phoenix, Md.) will receive the Edson V. Mitchell '75 Distinguished Service Award. Saturday at 11 a.m. alumni will march in the parade of classes. The Colby College Museum of Art is open to the public the entire weekend. On view at the museum are "Drawn From a Family: Contemporary Works on Paper"--an exhibit of watercolors, gouaches, charcoal drawings, collages, ink and pencil drawings and mixed media works drawn exclusively from three collectors within one family--and The Joan Whitney Payson Collection--26 works by world-famous Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, including Courbet, Daumier, Monet and Renoir. The following reunion events on Saturday, June 8, are open to the public free of charge:
