Piano Institute at Colby to Perform Free Concerts On Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. nightly, participants in the Piano Institute at Colby summer workshop will perform concerts in Colby's Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus. The concerts are open to the public free of charge. The Piano Institute at Colby is a two-week program of intensive study that includes master classes and private lessons, with emphasis on technique, interpretation and repertoire. Participants listen to guest lecturers from the contemporary music world and have the opportunity to perform in the final public concerts. Internationally recognized pianist Anthony di Bonaventura founded the Institute at Colby in 1979 and has been the director since its beginning. Di Bonaventura has performed in 27 countries and was featured in the Great Performances Series at New York?s Lincoln Center. In May 1992, he was awarded the Metcalf Cup and Prize for Excellence, Boston University's highest award for excellence in teaching.
