New York Voices at Colby September 28

On Saturday, September 28, the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble New York Voices will perform at Colby College in Waterville. The concert, part of the 2002-03 Music at Colby Concert Series, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Page Commons Room of Cotter Union. It is open to the public and free of charge.

Renowned for their jazz, the members of New York Voices also perform music with Brazilian, R&B, classical and pop influences. The group has performed in Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and at numerous jazz festivals throughout the world. Last year New York Voices released its sixth CD, Sing, Sing, Sing, a compilation of big band music inspired by the group's frequent performances with the Count Basie Orchestra.

New York Voices was formed in 1987 and includes Darmon Meader, Kim Nazarian, Lauren Kinhan and Peter Eldridge. The ensemble is actively involved in music education and gives workshops and clinics to high school and college music students.
