Shanges for colored girls who have considered suicide at Colby October 17-19
For colored girls features seven actresses, each identified only by a color, who present a series of choreographed poems. The production celebrates the lives of women of color with stories of oppression and transcendence. Shanges play received critical acclaim after its Broadway debut in 1976 and has since been considered an American classic. Alice-Marie Allen '04 (Limerick, Maine) will play the part of Lady in Brown, Lindsay Lanier '04 (Los Angeles) will play Lady in Blue, Breilyn Brantley '04 (Cypress, Texas) will play Lady in Yellow, Adelin Cai '05 (Singapore) will play Lady in Orange, Kate Campbell '05 (Missoula, Mont.) will play Lady in Purple, Amina McIntyre '04 (Atlanta, Ga.) will play Lady in Red, and Jane Lee '06 (Tujunga, Calif.) will play Lady in Green.
