Asian Funerary Art Exhibited at Colby Museum

Dancers and Musicians The exhibit Afterlife: Asian Tomb and Ritual Art from the Colby Collection will be shown at the Colby College Museum of Art in Waterville October 18 through January 5. A gallery talk by Ankeney Weitz, assistant professor of art and East Asian studies, will be presented on Friday, October 25, from 2:15 to 3 p.m. It will be followed by an opening reception from 3 to 4:30 at the museum. The public is invited.

Organized by Colby students in an East Asian art seminar, Afterlife will feature Asian art from the museum’s permanent collection, including sculpture, ceramics, bronzes, paintings and books.

Colby museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and the museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. For information call 207-872-3228 or visit www.colby.edu/museum.
