Friends of Art to Tour John Singer Sargent Exhibit

On Tuesday, November 12, the Colby College Museum of Art's Friends of Art will tour John Singer Sargent's Seven Sisters exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The trip is available to the general public and includes free time for lunch and to explore the museum. After a tour of Seven Sisters by the MFA's docents, the group will be given a tour of the museum’s renowned Egyptian collection. Transportation to Copley Place will be provided for shopping and dinner before the return trip to Waterville.

The Seven Sisters exhibition features Sargent's painting The Wyndham Sisters as its centerpiece. The work is on loan for the first time from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The exhibit also includes Sargent's earlier group portraits, watercolors, drawings and costumes from the Museum of Fine Arts' collection.

A bus will leave from Colby's Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m., and is expected to leave Boston at 6:30 p.m. that evening. The cost for the trip is $55 per person and includes transportation, admission to the museum and the two guided tours. Registration for the trip should be made by November 1. For reservations or further information, contact Alice Fitzgerald at 207-872-3228.
