Presentation on Ethics of Embryonic Stem Cell Research November 15

On Friday, November 15, Ronald Green, a professor in Dartmouth College’s Ethics Institute, will be at Colby College in Waterville to discuss ethical issues surrounding embryonic stem cell research. The lecture will begin at 4 p.m. in Given Auditorium of the Bixler Art and Music Center. It is open to the public and free of charge.

Green's lecture is intended to help audience members explore their own views on the ethical issues surrounding embryonic stem cell research. His unique presentation style engages audience members in a group discussion to enable participants to identify their personal feelings on the topic.

Green is currently the Eunice and Julian Cohen Professor for the Study of Ethics and Human Values at Dartmouth and the director of Dartmouth's Institute for the Study of Applied and Professional Ethics. He collaborated on the National Institutes of Health Human Embryo Research Panel's 1994 report, which provided the guidelines for all future federally funded research on the human embryo. While he was a consultant for the NIH's National Institute for Human Genome Research he aided in the establishment of the Office of Genome Ethics. Green is the author of five books and more than 80 articles in various fields of ethics.
