Portland String Quartet Opens Spring Music at Colby Concert Series Feb. 8

On Saturday, February 8, the Portland String Quartet, artists-in-residence at Colby, will present a concert as part of the Music at Colby Concert Series. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus and is open to the public free of charge.

The concert program will feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quartet in B-flat Major, K. 589, Fritz Kreisler's String Quartet in A Minor and Antonin Dvorák's String Quartet, Op. 16.

The Portland String Quartet includes violist Julia Adams, violinists Stephen Kecskemethy and Ronald Lantz and cellist Paul Ross. The group was founded in 1969 and currently is celebrating its 34th season without a change in personnel. The ensemble has played together longer than any U.S. quartet except the Guarneri.
