Israeli Ambassador Rabinovich to Speak at Colby Feb. 27
Rabinovich was Israel's Chief Negotiator with Syria under the late Yitzhak Rabin and ambassador in Washington from 1993 to 1996. Currently he is president of Tel Aviv University, a senior research fellow at the university's Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies and holds the Yona and Dina Ettinger Chair in Contemporary History of the Middle East. He previously served as dean of the faculty at Tel Aviv University and director of the Moshe Dayan Center. Rabinovich is the author of several books including The Road Not Taken: Early Arab-Israeli Negotiations, which won the Jewish Book Award. He also has written numerous articles, essays and chapters in books, as well as articles in leading professional journals. Rabinovich earned a doctorate degree in Middle Eastern history from the University of California-Los Angeles and he is the Andrew White Professor at Large at Cornell University. The Lipman Lecture, presented annually, was endowed by Bernard Lipman '31 and is devoted to the advancement of Jewish studies at Colby. |
