Colby Friends of Art to Tour MFA “Impressions of Light” Exhibit

On Tuesday, April 1, the Colby College Museum of Art's Friends of Art will tour the "Impressions of Light" exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The trip is available to the general public and includes free time for lunch and to explore the museum. Transportation to Copley Place will be provided for shopping and dinner before the return trip to Waterville.

"Impressions of Light: The French Landscape from Corot to Monet" tells the story of 19th-century landscape through 150 works drawn from the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts. Beginning with Corot and the Barbizon School and ending with compositions by Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and the late works of Claude Monet, the exhibition explores the development of French landscape in painting and the graphic arts. Works include paintings, pastels, watercolors, drawings, prints and photographs.

A bus will leave from Colby's Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m., and is expected to leave Boston at 6:30 p.m. that evening. The cost for the trip is $55 per person and includes transportation, admission to the museum and an audio tour. Registration for the trip should be made by March 17. For reservations or further information, contact Alice Fitzgerald at the Colby museum at 207-872-3228.
