Kasser Receives Teaching Award at Colby Jeffrey Kasser, assistant professor of philosophy at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, will receive the 2003 Senior Class Charles Bassett Teaching Award. Kasser will be honored on Tuesday, May 6, at the Senior Class Dinner. The award, determined by a vote of the senior class, recognizes Kasser as one of the most popular professors on a faculty that numbers more than 200. Kasser teaches courses on American philosophy, epistemology, philosophy and the environment, and philosophy of film, religion and science. His areas of expertise include epistemology, American philosophy, philosophy of religion and 19th-century philosophy. Kasser earned his Ph.D. in 1999 from the University of Michigan and his bachelors degree with honors in 1987 from Rice University. Colby, in Waterville, Maine, combines a challenging academic program, an emphasis on undergraduate research, and a friendly, supportive atmosphere on one of the nations most beautiful campuses. Colby's reach is internationalin its recruitment of diverse students and faculty, the scope of its curriculum and its ambitious study-abroad program. The college enrolls 1,800 students. |
