Faust: A Masked Telling Performed May 1-3
Faust: A Masked Telling explores the infamous legend of Dr. Johann Faustus, who, bored with philosophy and the sciences, trades his soul for the knowledge of black magic. The production examines the story's different interpretations throughout history while hinting at its relevance to our world today. Faust uses large papier-mâche9; puppets and commedia dell'arte masks to paint such charismatic characters as The Seven Deadly Sins, Mephistopheles, the Pope and Lucifer. Guest artist Tavia LaFollette will direct the production. LaFollette is a professional director, designer, puppeteer and theater artist. She uses theater as a vehicle for exploring social conscience. General admission is $3; students and seniors are $2. For ticket information call the box office at 207-872-3358 between 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Or call 207-872-3388 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information on upcoming productions visit the Theater and Dance Web site at www.colby.edu/theater. |
