Colby Symphony Orchestra Concert is October 28 On Saturday, October 28, the Colby Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Jonathan Hallstrom, will perform its first concert of the season. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Colbys Lorimer Chapel. Part of the 2000-2001 Music at Colby concert series, the event is open to the public free of charge. The concert will feature pianist Cheryl Tschanz in a performance of Chopins Piano Concerto in F minor. Tschanz, who made her major orchestral debut with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra at the age of 11, has performed throughout the United States, Canada, France, Italy and Finland. She also has performed in New Yorks Lincoln Center and Carnegie Recital Hall. She is an adjunct assistant professor of music and teaches piano at Colby. The program also will include Felix Mendelssohns Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream, a suite from the ballet Estancia by Alberto Ginastera, and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Norfolk Rhapsody. Maines largest college orchestra, the Colby Symphony Orchestra includes student, faculty and community musicians.
