Portland String Quartet to Perform September 20 On Saturday, September 20, the Portland String Quartet, artists-in-residence at Colby, will present a concert as part of the 2003-04 Music at Colby Concert Series. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus and is open to the public free of charge. Portland String Quartet's concert program will feature Mozart's String Quartet in G Major, K. 387, Bartok's String Quartet No. 1 and Sir Arthur Bliss's Quintet for Oboe and Strings, with guest artist Louis Hall, Colby applied music associate in oboe. The Portland String Quartet includes violist Julia Adams, violinists Stephen Kecskemethy and Ronald Lantz and cellist Paul Ross. The group was founded in 1969 and currently is celebrating its 34th season without a change in personnel. The ensemble has played together longer than any U.S. quartet. The quartet has established a reputation for strong performances on its international tours, and its recordings have won a variety of honors.
