Colby Dance Theater to Perform at Colby April 23, 24, 30 and May 1 Colby Dance Theater, Colby's repertory dance company, will perform April 23, 24 and 30 and May 1 at 7:30 p.m. nightly in Strider Theater of Runnals Building on the Waterville campus. The performances will feature five compositions in contemporary dance, choreographed and performed by professional choreographers and advanced students in the Department of Theater and Dance at Colby. Admission is charged. "Certain Fragments," the latest work by guest artist Tonya Lockyer, was inspired by the inherent order and complexities of nature. "Migration," a new work by adjunct professor of theater and dance Tina Wentzel, draws parallels between the natural and human world and explores the need and desire to move. Breilyn Brantley '04's "Haunting" relates the haunting of an innocent being. Dana Wheeler '04's "Sonnet Moderne" was inspired by Shakespeares sonnets and evokes the passion and internal strife captured in the poet's words. Elizabeth Holmes '04's "Boundaries of Being" was inspired by the Arabic haram, the domestic space confining and protecting women from the public sphere. Wentzel is the production's artistic director and Randall Klein is guest costume designer. General admission is $3; students and seniors are $2.
