Colby Presents Alan Clark's Guerrero
Guerrero, a play written by Alan Clark based on actual events, will be presented in Colby's Strider Theater on Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1, at 7:30 p.m. Acted and supported by Colby students and visiting guest artists, Guerrero promises to bring together elements from around the globe.
The play, co-directed by Clark and Richard Sewell, dramatizes a painful cultural fusion between Mayans and two shipwrecked Spaniards on the Aztec Empire's fringe. Rishi Chatrath '08 plays Guerrero, a Spanish sailor. Other Colby students include Maris Skujevskis '07, who plays a Jesuit clinging to his faith, Claire Collins '08 as Mucuy, a Mayan aristocrat, and Avi David '08 as The Guitarist. Two visiting guest artists round out the cast: Kim Gordon as Guerrero's mother and Sean Dolan as a Mayan king.
Guerrero has been performed in Spanish in Mexico City and at the Festival of Caribbean Nations in Cancun, and in English at the Farnsworth Museum.
Clark, a 1969 graduate of Colby, lives and paints in Maine and Mexico. Sewell taught play writing as a member of Colby's Theater and Dance Department from 1974 to 2003 and was founding director of Maine's Theater At Monmouth.
Tickets are $3 for general admission and $2 for students and seniors. For ticket information, call the box office at 859-4535 between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday the week of the performance.

A Servant to Two Masters
In this original adaptation by Julie Goell, from the Lee Hall version of A Servant to Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, two lovers separated by circumstance unwittingly share the same servant in this classic gender-bending comedy of errors. Directed by Julie Goell, music direction by Eva Linfield.
Tickets are $2 with Colby I.D. and for seniors; $3 general admission. Box office is open Monday through Saturday during the week of the performance from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
