WMHB Back at Full Power-110 Watts

Waterville community radio station WMHB-FM (89.7 FM) increased its transmitter strength to 110 watts on Saturday, July 15. WMHB had been temporarily broadcasting at 10 watts since October while the station's application for a frequency change from 90.5 to 89.7 was being reviewed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Final approval for the change came this week.

With its full wattage and a new antenna, WMHB expects its coverage to reach from Augusta to Bangor and from the coast to Skowhegan, says Lee L'Heureux of Waterville, WMHB's summer station manager, who will be a sophomore next year.

WMHB 89.7 FM is a college-community radio station that serves the greater Waterville area with a diverse blend of music including rock, rap, metal, jazz, blues, world beat, folk and country. It is a non-profit educational radio station run jointly by Colby College students and local residents.
