Collegium Musicum to Perform at Colby

Colby's Collegium Musicum, a chamber group focusing on music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, will perform on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m., in Lorimer Chapel on the Waterville campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Eva Linfield, will perform music by John Dowland and Henry Purcell in an evening of poetry, instrumental fantasias, polyphonic airs, and solo songs from Elizabethan and Jacobean times to the Restoration. Among the music selections are Dowland's vocal and instrumental pieces from the Golden Age of the Renaissance and one of the Odes to St. Cecilia by the Baroque composer Purcell. The vocal ensemble, with its own soloists, will be joined by strings, recorders, lute and theorbo, and a positive organ.
