The Colby Wind Ensemble will perform its spring concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, and the Colby Jazz Ensemble will present "Big Band Dance Music" at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. Eric Thomas will direct both concerts in Colby’s Lorimer Chapel. They are part of the 1999-2000 Music at Colby Concert Series and are free of charge.

On April 8, the Colby Wind Ensemble will perform. The ensemble performs works drawn from standard literature, symphonic works, movie music, marches and more.

On April 15, the Colby Jazz Ensemble’s performance will include works by composers Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Horace Silver and Charlie Mingus, among others, reflecting the many different facets of big band music. The concert also will feature a hot returning soloist as well as some new talent on Colby’s jazz scene.
