The Friends of Art at the Colby Museum of Art are sponsoring a Tuesday, May 16, trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of the "Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism" exhibition. A bus will leave Colbys Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m. and will return at 10 p.m. Cost of the trip is $46 per person.
"Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism" includes 140 rare vintage prints by Weston, complimented by works from 25 contemporary artists. Weston (1886-1958) is best known for his still-lifes of peppers and shells, his heroic portraits, and his abstract close-ups of nudes, rocks and trees. Trip participants will be given a guided tour of "Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism," a guided thematic tour of "Images of Woman" in the Museum of Fine Arts permanent collection, and free time in Copley Place for shopping and dinner.
