Colby Museum Sponsors Trip to Boston Museum of Fine Arts

The Friends of Art at the Colby Museum of Art are sponsoring a Tuesday, May 16, trip to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for a guided tour of the "Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism" exhibition. A bus will leave Colby’s Roberts Building parking lot at 7 a.m. and will return at 10 p.m. Cost of the trip is $46 per person.

"Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism" includes 140 rare vintage prints by Weston, complimented by works from 25 contemporary artists. Weston (1886-1958) is best known for his still-lifes of peppers and shells, his heroic portraits, and his abstract close-ups of nudes, rocks and trees. Trip participants will be given a guided tour of "Edward Weston: Photography and Modernism," a guided thematic tour of "Images of Woman" in the Museum of Fine Arts’ permanent collection, and free time in Copley Place for shopping and dinner.

For further information on the Friends of Art trip or to make a reservation, contact the Colby Museum of Art at (207) 872-3228. Payment should be made by May 8.
