
Free Violin Concert at Colby, July 31
Violinist Patrick Doane, a participant in the Portland String Quartets summer string workshop at Colby College, will perform Monday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Colbys Given Auditorium in the Bixler Art and Music Center. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.
The concert program will include Sonata No.1, in G minor for unaccompanied violin by Johann Sebastian Bach, Sonata No.2 in A major,Op.100 by Johannes Brahms and Concerto No.2,Op.63 by Sergei Prokofiev. Doane will be accompanied by pianist Deb Raszmann.
Portland String Quartet members Julia Adams, Stephen Kecskemethy, Ronald Lantz and Paul Ross are conducting their 25th annual summer string quartet workshop. The workshop attracts a select group of musicians from around the world who spend two weeks at Colby in July and August in an intensive schedule of rehearsals, coaching sessions and master classes.
