Colby College Computer Camp will have two five-day sessions this summer, July 20-24 and August 10-14. Meeting in the college's "Mac Lab" computer laboratory, campers will use up-to-date Macintosh computers and laser printers and will have access to the Internet. During both weeks there will be a web-authoring camp from 9 a.m. to noon for children ages 10 to 15 who have some computer and Internet experience. Traditional computer camp, for students in grades three through five, will be held both weeks from 1-2:30 p.m. Fees are $75 for Web authoring camp and $45 for traditional camp. Brian Barrows, a technology teacher at Winslow Junior High School who has been involved with the Colby Computer Camp for six years, will run the camps, assisted by Colby students. Children in the traditional camp will learn to use a variety of applications and programs and will be introduced to authoring pages for the World Wide Web. In the Web authoring camps, students will build their own web pages, learning layout and design, hypertext, HTML language, digital photography and image scanning. For additional information or to register call Colby College's Office of Special Programs at 207-872-3386. Colby's Mac Lab is accessible to people with disabilities. |
