New York-based artist Tobi Kahn, whose paintings and sculpture are currently on display in the Colby College Museum of Art, will give a gallery talk on Thursday, September 17, at 10 a.m. The exhibition of his work, titled "Metamorphoses," is visiting Colby as part of a national tour and continues at the museum through October 11. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public. The museums hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Running concurrently with the Kahn exhibition are "John Marin in Maine," an exhibit of paintings and watercolors by John Marin (through September 27), "Photographs by Berenice Abbott," a collection of 16 photographs plus a portrait of the artist by Walker Evans, and "A Walk Through the Paper Forest," works on paper exploring Latino artistic traditions. The museum also displays art from its collection in galleries including The Paul J. Schupf Gallery for the Art of Alex Katz. Call 872-3228 for more information. |
