Rob Hallquist, a pianist who directs the School of Music at the University of Northern Colorado and performs across the United States, will present a concert at Colby College in Waterville at 8 p.m. on October 3. The performance, part of the Music at Colby series, is in Lorimer Chapel and is open to the public free of charge. The program, which occurs during Colby's annual family weekend, begins with two sonatas in G Major (K.2 and K. 14) by Domenico Scarlatti. They are followed by Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata in D Major, BWV 912. The second section of the program includes Jeux d'eau by Maurice Ravel and Isle de feu by Olivier Messiaen. Harmonies du soir by Franz Liszt and two Frederic Chopin etudes (E Major, Op. 10, No. 3 and C minor, Op. 25, No. 12) follow, and the concert concludes with Etudes in the Form of Variations, Op. 13, by Robert Schumann. The Ahn Trio, a chamber group composed of three Korean sisters, performs the following Saturday, Oct. 10, also at 8 p.m. in Colby's chapel.
