Portland String Quartet Performs at Colby Saturday,
But Composer's Pre-Concert Talk is Canceled

The Portland String Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, at Colby College in Waterville, as planned, but a pre-concert lecture by composer Tom Myron of Portland has been canceled. The performance in Colby's Lorimer Chapel is part of the Music at Colby Concert Series and admission is free.

Due to illness of the featured soprano, the program has been changed. Now, in addition to Haydn's String Quartet in G Major, Op. 77, No. 1 and Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 1 in B Minor, Op. 50, the quartet will play Lyrical Interludes based on a theme by Prokofiev by Norman Dello-Joio, a piece commissioned for the quartet's 30th anniversary.
