Thursday's Lecture by Hazel Carby at Colby is Canceled
Professor Hazel Carby of Yale University is unable to fulfill her speaking commitment at Colby College on Thursday, Feb. 11, because of illness. Other events in Colby's Black History Month program will proceed as scheduled, beginning Monday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. in Lovejoy 100 when Wallace "Macky" Alston shows his film and discusses Buried Family Roots and Well-Kept Secrets: History and Memory Through Film.
The Women's Studies Colloquium, which Prof. Carby was to inaugurate as well, will now begin on Thursday, March 4, at 4:15 p.m. in the Whitney Room, Roberts Building, when Colby history professor Andrea Volpe discusses Cartes de Visite: Photographs and the Culture of Exchange in the 19th Century United States.
