Computer Science Festival at Colby

This year students in Colby College's computer science department have been working on some exciting projects, including development of original computer games, research in scientific computing and designing characters for virtual worlds. To show off some of this work, the department will host a computer science festival from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, on the fourth floor of Colby's Mudd Building. The festival is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

During the festival, students will demonstrate programs, including a three-dimensional racing game, simulated soccer between automated intelligent soccer teams and computer-generated art. Other presentations and demonstrations include: strategy and adventure games; an on-line casino; interactive, graphical stories with puzzles; intelligent, social characters that inhabit three-dimensional virtual worlds; small robot experiments; computer models of ecology, evolution, biology and economics; and computational analysis of astronomical data.
