Colby Museum Exhibits Works by Senior Students

Ten Colby College seniors will exhibit their art work at the Colby Museum of Art in the college's annual Senior Art Show May 7-23. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 7, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the public is invited.

Lyle Bradley, Eamon Briggs, Eliza Hoover and Abby Manock all will present sculpture employing various media. Krista Brown, Andrea Keisler and Chris Knoll will show paintings, and Stephanie Patterson, Martha Rogers and Christina Scannapiego will display prints.

The Colby Museum of Art is home to an outstanding permanent collection that specializes in American art but includes other treasures, from ancient Asian ceramics to works by Rembrandt, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Picasso. The museum also owns more than 400 paintings, drawings, prints and cut-outs by modern artist Alex Katz.

Concurrently on view at the Colby museum is "Cleve Gray, Painter: A Quarter of a Century," ‹ 20 representative works by the renowned abstract-expressionist painter.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited, and admission is free. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. For additional information, please call 872-3228.
